Drama Ratings

This page is where I will list all of my ratings for dramas that I have seen (finished). I’m envisioning this as a page for anyone looking for a quick place to get good drama recommendations with links to more in-depth ratings that I will provide through other posts. In the past, I’ve found it a hassle to have to click each individual post in order to see the drama’s ratings, so I think it’ll be easier this way. Please note that this is just a work in progress – I’ll be working on updating it in the upcoming months!

Autumn’s Concerto下一站, 幸福

9

I loved the earlier episodes so much (and I adore Xiao Xiao Bin), but in the middle it started dragging and getting convoluted, only to pick up at the end. Still, Vanness and Ady blew up the screen with their chemistry, and it was an altogether beautiful drama.
Corner With Love轉角*遇到愛

10

Adorably cute and well-acted. Also has an amazing OST. The plot was a refreshing change of pace from the usual “rich guy, poor girl” dichotomy, and felt genuine / realistic. My favorite drama of all time.
Devil Besides You

8

My favorite of all Rainie’s dramas as one of the few where her character isn’t annoying. A very sweet drama, but didn’t have the “love it” factor for me.
Down With Love

8

Drunken to Love You

8

Wasn’t particularly memorable. Remember finding Rainie’s character annoying and could never fully shake this odd dislike of Joseph Cheng’s character.
Easy Fortune Happy Life

7

What a great waste of time.
Fated to Love You

8

Even though it had super high ratings (the highest rated idol drama), I was annoyed A LOT by this drama. It’s got some nice comedy, but I was irked by the characters.
Hana Kimi

9

Hi My Sweetheart

8

Overexaggerated to the point of ridiculousness, but the scenes where it chose to be serious were incredibly touching (and I shed a tear or two). Not as funny as it thinks it is, and the plot is unbelievable but interesting. The music was its saving grace; while I didn’t find the drama too memorable, I still hum the songs to myself till this day.
Hot Shot

Invincible Shan Bao Mei

In Time With You

9.5

It’s not without its flaws (was esp. frustrating at times), but the drama was such a refreshing change from all the other TW dramas I’ve ever watched before. Amazing OST, very mature, great stylistic flair, beautiful cinematography, realistic (kinda) plot, and stand out acting.
ISWAK

9

My first drama ever, so I may be biased, but I found that Ariel and Joe truly brought alive their characters and sold it. They also had amazing chemistry, which helped. Overall, funny, entertaining, and heartwarming.
ISWAK 2

8.5

Not as good as the first one, but still pretty darn awesome.
IUIU

5

The main characters are cute but the plot basically circles around one issue and the ending was a cop out. Second leads couldn’t act. Why do I slog through these horrible dramas?
Love or Bread

3

What a great waste of time. Absolutely nothing happens, Ariel and Joe’s amazing chemistry is wasted, and it had a terrible ending.
Mars

8.5

Dark and suspenseful, not the usual Taiwanese drama fare. Intense acting and great chemistry.
Meteor Garden

6

How did this ever become so popular? Disliked the characters and it was poorly made (yes, it was made in 2001).
Miss No Good

7

The drama was no good. Rainie’s character was super annoying, and every time Wilbur Pan and Rainie kissed I was scared that Rainie’s lips were going to get sucked into his mouth.
My Lucky Star

8.5

I enjoyed the drama a lot, but for some reason, I didn’t love it. Really great chemistry between Jimmy Lin and Yoo Ha Na, and they both gave great performances. Jammed packed with plot, and the characters are (thankfully) intelligent, resilient adults.
My Queen

7.5

I personally couldn’t connect with this drama, and found that there wasn’t enough plot to sustain 21 episodes. An okay drama.
PS Man偷心大聖 P.S. 男

5

It started out good, but then it started dragging, and dragging, and dragging, until I couldn’t stand it anymore. Little happens, the characters are petty and whiny, and the chemistry fell flat.
Romantic Princess

9

I’m not going to pretend like this is an amazing drama. It’s not. But I loved it, because I have an unreasonable bias towards Wu Chun, found the entire story to be unbearably adorable, and quite funny. Plus it’s relatively short. The drama made me giddy and happy, and that’s good enough in my books.
Skip Beat

8.5

I’m not sure why I enjoyed this drama so much, but it was definitely crack for me when it aired. Ivy is spunky as Kotoko and had good chemistry with her co-stars despite the language gap. Only wish there was more romance, but that’s a factor of the original manga more so than the drama.
Smiling Pasta

9.25

While Cyndi Wang and Nicholas Teo aren’t great on their own, together they make quite an adorable pair. Seriously, CUTEST drama ever. Also loved the way that they weaved the music into the drama – I had the songs stuck in my head for a long time afterwards.
Sunny Happiness

8

It was a decent drama, not too special / memorable in either a good or a bad way. But, I think this is my favorite Mike He drama (I generally don’t like his acting) and I adored Li Yi Feng (2nd male lead).
Sweet Relationship

5

As much as I love Vic, I couldn’t stomach Patty’s acting, and I felt that Vic’s character had so very little to do, other than yell and be grumpy.
The Fierce Wife

7.5

Different than most idol dramas, with strong acting and a meatier plot. Didn’t like any of the males in the drama though, and the crazy cousin was flat out too annoying to watch. Personally didn’t enjoy it, but it’s an objectively good drama.

Dropped

These are the shows that I watched a few (or maybe even 15) episodes of, but for one reason or another, never ended up finishing (usually because they sucked). Putting them in a different category because I don’t feel entirely qualified to make these judgments without having watching it in its entirety.

What happened to you Jiro? You really look plastic.

Weird over the top performance by Rainie and Jiro. So bad.

    • I’ve actually watched the first episode of that drama, but unfortunately, I couldn’t stand it and dropped it. There were way too many characters for me to keep track of. Thanks for the suggestion though!

    • It’s on my list of dramas I need to watch! Really high up. I’ve heard that it’s super good… I just haven’t had time to get around to it. Sigh… time is always the problem…

  1. Hihi~ I love your reviews! Keep it up!
When did you watch Meteor Garden? I watched it when it first come out and I was crazy about it THEN. Of course, now watching it, I was wondering why was I thinking? Haha!
Oooh! I want to recommend tw drama EX BOYFRIEND. I haven’t seen such good quality drama for awhile. I tried to watch In Time W/ You. I have no doubt regarding the acting by the veteran leads but it’s so hard to stick to the story after watching EX BF. So please consider adding it to ur TO WATCH list! =)

    • Thank you so much! 😀
I watched Meteor Garden in 2009-ish, so it was a great while after it was first broadcasted (which is why I found the costumes so off-putting and the cinematography poor).
I actually watched the first episode of Ex Boyfriend and enjoyed it, but I was put off by the fact it was a daily drama (which means it’ll take me forever to finish it). But I will definitely add it to my extensive list since you recommended it. 😀 Thanks!

      • Hey girl… EX BF wasn’t a daily drama… it’s weekly.. but when I was chasing it, I wish it was a daily because it was a pain to wait every week! Haha!
Inborn Pair was the daily one (the first TW daily drama I’ve seen… 80+ eps but I fast forward to watch the OTP!) XD
Yup yup, add to ur to-see list! ❤

      • Oh – my bad, got them confused! I was meaning to watch Inborn Pair as well, so I somehow mixed up the two. I heard that Ex-BF had a bad / twist ending so I’m kind of hesitant.

      • Haha~ Lots of ppl couldn’t take the ending because they think the ending wasn’t worth the time and tear and heartache they have invested on for 14 weeks! XD The ending was a VERY REALISTIC ending (like the story throughout) and I personally loved it! It’s justified well and kudo to the creator/writers/director for sticking to the original ending and not changing it to please the audience. If you want to know how it ends, the title says it all! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

  2. I think with Meteor Garden, it was one of those watch-while-it-airs type of dramas. That and it was one of the first idol dramas [if i can remember correctly]. Taiwanese dramas before then had been extremely forgettable, so I think that’s why it was so popular.

It’s interesting to see how people can view dramas so differently ^^ A bit refreshing too, because you pointed out things that I glossed over or didn’t remember.

You should definitely watch Black and White, as well as Prince Turns to Frog and Skip Beat!.

    • Ahaha, I have already watched Prince Turns to Frog (LOVED IT – I watched it with my mom before my drama craze began, so while I consider ISWAK my first drama, Prince Turns to Frog was technically my first drama) and Skip Beat! (which if you search through my posts you’ll find I loved to an unreasonable degree). Oh, weird, I just noticed I didn’t include Prince Turns to Frog in my ratings. Will add – thanks for pointing that out. 😀 Still need to get on that Black and White bandwagon though!

      • I noticed that you seemed to really like Mars – so I’m guessing you’ll really love Black and White. I thought that Zai Zai was great in Mars, and really liked him as a darker, more complex character. That’s what drew me to Black and White, and his performance there was even better 😀 I hear there’s a movie coming out soon, so you should watch B/W before it comes out!
